Eating Out Tips : Eat earlier or later than the average crowd so that you can get the attention you need. Present your gluten free Restaurant Cards. Ask to speak to the manager and give your Restaurant Card to the Chef. Ask the waiter to mark on "Gluten Free" on your order. Call ahead and make reservations, notifying the restaurant of your needs. Ask questions to be sure that what you are served is in fact gluten-free. Verify fried items are not cross-contaminated by being fried in the same oil as gluten containing foods. Be polite. Get to know the restaurant's staff. Being a "regular" has its perks. Tip well -- it will be remembered.

Eischen's is world famous for its fried chicken and being the oldest bar in the State of Oklahoma. It's a fun place to take out-of-town company for a slice of Oklahoma history. Unfortunately, the fried chicken is not gluten-free; however, the Chile-Cheese Nachos are! This is a great alternative for those gluten-eating spouses and friends. They can get their gluten "fix" and you can eat a safe, gluten-free and yummy meal, too.

Hours are 10:00 A.M. to 12: A.M., Monday through Saturday. Closed on Sundays and Holidays. Food is served anytime. For those gluten-consuming guests, chicken orders must be in by 10:00 P.M. Go early to avoid a wait .

PF Chang's is a national chain and has its gluten free menu available online at PF Chang's and at each restaurant. When you go, just ask your waiter for a gluten free menu.

Editor Note: Be sure to tell the manager you cannot have any wheat, oats, barley or rye. Ask the food preparers to use clean gloves, clean bowl to mix salad, NO croutons, and NO bread anywhere near your plate.

Outback Steakhouse is a national chain and has its own gluten free menu available at Outback Steakhouse . Outback Steakhouse has many gluten-free selections ranging from salads to grilled entrees and steaks to desserts. There is even a gluten-free kids menu.

Regardless of what you order for your meal, you must save room for the gluten-free dessert, "Chocolate Thunder from Down Under", a fresh-baked, flourless, pecan brownie, with rich vanilla ice cream topped with hot homemade chocolate sauce and chocolate shavings. It is so amazingly good you won't believe it is gluten-free (but it is)!

Be sure to ask your waiter for a copy of the gluten-free menu available at www.outback.com . They will print it off and bring it to your table.

Their CUSTARD is gluten free, however, not casein free or lactose free. All are made with milk and butterfat.

General Product Information: The restaurant uses cheese distributed by Glenview Farms and Pasada and margarine distributed by Glenview Farms. Both distributors claim their products are gluten-free, but the manufacturers could not be determined. Therefore, these items are treated as NOT gluten-free in this list.

Most meals, including soups and salads, are served with a basket of yeast rolls. If you do not want the yeast rolls brought to your table, tell your waiter.
