Welcome to OKceliac.com! Our site is dedicated to those interested in Celiac Disease. At OKceliac.com you can find the latest news, information and research on Celiac Disease, gluten-free foods and companies, and interact with others interested in Celiac Disease.

OKceliac.com is the official site of the Oklahoma Celiac Support Group, local chapter #5 of CSA/USA, Inc. The Oklahoma Celiac Support Group was founded in 1986 by Winnolia Porterfield. Currently, we have over 200 members, including many in the health care and medical community.

Our support group has played a key role in promoting gluten-free menus in Oklahoma City area restaurants by working with and encouraging them to offer gluten-free options. We have regular "gluten free restaurant outings", where we take a large group to eat a gluten free meal at a local restaurant. This has been very succesful, not only in teaching our members how to safely dine out gluten free, but also teaching the restuarants how to deal with special needs diets.

Celiac Disease, also known as Celiac Sprue, affects as many as 1 in 128 Americans. It is often misdiagnosed as Chron’s Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, lactose intolerance, or simply overlooked. The Oklahoma City Celiac Support Group continually strives to better educate the Oklahoma City medical community and companies about Celiac Disease.

Thanks for stopping by. We hope you enjoy your visit. Be sure to let us know what you think or how we can better assist you.

Sincerely,

Heather M. Cline
President, Oklahoma Celiac Support Group
