Infertility and Celiac Disease

In an article in the New York Times on Febrary 3, 2010, Dr. Sheila Crowe, a professor in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Virginia, discussed the effect of Celiac Disease on fertility, which can affect both men and women.

Unexplained infertility, lower sperm count and mobility are a few of the side effects of untreated Celiac Disease.  Menstraul abnormalities, reduced ovulation, hormonal issues and miscarriages also affect women with untreated Celiac Disease.
